What should I expect from my visit?

Your first visit will last approximately one hour. You will meet with a counselor and a medical professional will perform your pregnancy test. The pregnancy test requires a urine sample in order to detect the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone produced in women after conception. If the results are inconclusive, or at the medical professional’s discretion, clients will be referred to a local medical laboratory for a blood test.

What if my pregnancy test is positive?

Pregnancy Test
If your pregnancy test is positive, the medical professional will take your vital signs and dispense prenatal vitamins. The medical professional will also offer you a hemoglobin test prenatal testing to check if you are anemic, or have a low number of red blood cells needed to carry oxygen in the blood. If your level is low, iron pills will be offered as a supplement. If your last period was at least six weeks ago, an ultrasound may be performed during the same visit.
